Default Ice Cream from Greenearth, the real deal?

Just ordered an ice cream from greenearth Co. Has anyone grown out plants from them and verified that the ID is correct? Sounds like most commercial vendors are selling Namwah as ice cream, and the real deal is, at best, incredibly difficult to obtain.

Thank you Abnshrek! It seems like the majority of vendors don't reliably have the correct ID, which is quite surprising.

Well Ordering an Ice Cream is almost certain to give you a Namwah variety Tall or Misi Luki.. Its like they stole the Ice Cream part from the Blue Java, and for good reason from what I've heard.. :^)

A true Blue Java was auctioned off last nite at my rare fruit club. It would be a good idea to give up the quest cause the so called Ice Cream tastes like crap compared to so many other good naner varieties.

Here is my taste report from the bunch that I got last year. From the guy who sold last nites pup at auction.

Taste report on Blue Java bunch.

Now I know why this thing got called Ice Cream. When I cut open the first one I saw creamy white flesh. Like vanilla ice cream.

Texture is very soft when fully ripe. Taste is astringent until they fully ripen. Then it's ok ---- that's it folks ----- it's a mediocre naner at best. Still don't like it straight but it works cut up in breakfast cereal. The dog loves them, but then she likes to chew on her butt too!

It just isn't worth a full blown description like robguz does. Why do so many folks want this thing? Where is the hype coming from?

Thanks for the info everyone! Looks like cream is just an attractive name, but the substitutes like nam wah are even better.
