Hello! What is this?

Hello!
Around one year ago I bought this banana without any identification-mark. So, now I'm wondering - what is this? My friends told me that this is probably or Musa yunnanensis or Musa basjoo.
Please, help to ID
Thanx and happy New Year

Thanx!
But, my banana never had any pigmentation. I was told that Basjoo usually have it...

Re: Hello! What is this?

Basjoo is normally completely green. The color is definitely right, but the green on the petioles might just be to lower lighting conditions.

I vote basjoo also. I find my basjoos only have a purple midrib while young and when they get lots of light.

Re: Hello! What is this?

Yes, I hope it is it
So I will try to put it into OG (open ground) - there is a little bit of time for it
But i still didn't choose type of covering construction.

Re: Hello! What is this?

Put a pic on of the Leaf petiole, it will help to identify it. Bajoo petioles are winged.

Not too long ago I cut banana-stem and now I have only small part of new leaf.
I will put it into winter-experience - and we will see cold-hardy is it or not :)

Re: Hello! What is this?

U cut the leaves off b4 u transplanted??

Angbor 10-16-2013 11:43 AM

Re: Hello! What is this?

If I understand you, you ask - why I want to transplant my banana-friend in open ground.
So - there is a picture. First leaf is enough big, and weather is enough warm. And I think - one month it will be enough to rooting. And then I will cut stem off.

Re: Hello! What is this?

Maybe better to wait til spring. What zone are u in? Why did u cut the leaves off?

Re: Hello! What is this?

You mean - to wait with transplantation?
But too late :) I've already did it :)
About zone - every time I forget it. Russia for sure. Black sea. You can see on the map.
