Goldfinger or Pisang Awak - is leaf blotching a clue?
 

Is this a Pisang Awak or Goldfinger sucker?

Over the years my Goldfinger and Pisang Awak banana mats (corms) have merged because they were planted close together. Now, when suckers peep up, it is sometimes uncertain which of the two varieties of banana they are. The sucker in the photograph is one that I am unsure of. It has dark blotching on the leaves which may be a hint. I have heard somewhere that Goldfinger sometimes does have this leaf blotching on suckers. But does Pisang Awak sometimes have blotching on the leaves?
Wine staining or blotching of sucker leaves seems to be an intermittent characteristic. I have heard it reported that this staining is more common in very shady conditions.
In case you are not familiar with these banana cultivar names....
Pisang Awak = Kluai Nam Wa = Tall Namwah=Ducasse.
Goldfinger = FHIA-01.

Goldfinger. Looks exactly like the suckers off of mine. And from my experience, Pisang Awak types don't get wine stains on their leaves.
