Dwarf Rojo

Went to a local nursery today and found two bananas. I was told one was a red banana the other a green banana. I found a sticker on the "red banana" that said "dwarf rojo". I've searched here and found that the zebrina is known as a blood banana, rojo and other names. I was just wondering if the "dwarf" meant anything or if it is the same as the others?

I asked if anyone there knew the name of the "green banana" and I was told that it was a green banana. Very frustrating! So I'd really like to thank all of the banana experts here for contributing to this site so that someone like me can actually learn about bananas and know there is more to it than just a red or green banana. Thank you all!

BTW. I did buy the musa zebrina even though it is a bad time of the year. I just couldn't resist the urge. The plant has a ps of about 4' and 3 pups ($25w/tax). Will this be OK in a west facing window in my house @ 72 degrees, for the next couple of months?

Thanks again for all your help!

Re: Dwarf Rojo

That could be the the M. Dwarf Red (Rojo). Is the PS maroon colored? If so, it must be. There is also a Dwarf Red-Green, that is a mutant of the Dwarf Red but comes out green, with almost no red in them.

It should do OK next to a bright window for 2 months. Just don't let it run dry if you want it to keep growing.
