Thanks, Frank. Pulled it, pot and all, from the ground before Alberto made it's way up here. It sure looked alot bigger with the pot out of the ground. Sorta looked puny when I put it back.

Nice looking plant! I have an Ice Cream that has the same all green large floppy leaves just like that but I doubt that's what you have due to your location.

Hey there....looks pretty close to my "Ice Cream" also in CA.

Re: Another ID

Ice cream was my first reaction, but if that is what it is, it will be an easy ID when it fruits.

Thanks guys.. IC is what I'm hoping for, and if it doesn't fruit before winter there's the possibility I have access to a greenhouse to over-winter it.

Re: Another ID

Carolina, not sure what zone you are in, but do you ever overwinter any of your bananas in the ground? I have just put in a experimental "coldhardy" tropical garden (s) and there are about 10 types of musa that I put in that I thought I would have a chance of overwintering-I am zone 7b.

Re: Another ID

Hey, Tigerlily... short answer... no. :)

I only have 8 bananas in the ground, the rest in large pots. Some pots planted in ground, others just sitting around. I plan on leaving my basjoo out, but protected, as well as musella lasiocarpa.. and some dwarf cavendish, since I have so many.
One windmill I'll overwinter outside, and possible my pindo palms. Still undecided on those. For some reason I have not grown an attachment to my bird of paradise. If I'm overwhelmed with winter preparation, I might just let it go, too.

this is the sunset image I was referring to

You'll see it when your using the text editor to type out your post, it's part of the set of options where you can make your text bold, italic, etc...
I'll go now and update that thread where you read about it to make it easier for others in the future
:11:

Re: Another ID

Pretty cool.
:bananas_b
I also have two of them, one in a pot by my front door and one newly in the ground between me and a neighbor.
I happen to also have two Butia x Jubaea hybrids :bananas_j that are just past the seedling stage and have finally gone pinnate.
