Planting Lady Finger bananas in Sarasota, FL

I was given 6, approx. 10" tall, Banana ‘Dwarf Lady Finger’ (Musa acuminata) plants. I plan on planting them immediately in the ground after some kind person on this forum tells me how and if I need to fertilize them immediately during the planting process and what kind of fertilizer for this somewhat sandy soil.

Thank goodness I found this forum!!

Hi Diane, any kind of all purpose fertilizer will work. Bananas are not picky. Just be sure to keep up on the watering :) they don't like it too dry. Also adding some organic material might help with the sandy soil.
