I've just joined and am already asking questions about bananas from seeds....like many others!
Ordered 4 varieties of "hardy" banana seeds from "seedman.com". (One just called "Cold Hardy", Giant Nepal, Yunnan, and Darjeeling)
Received them about 4/12 and started them according to instruction using seed primer and peatpots. Today is 5/25 and I see no germination or development. My local nurseryman tells me to use a heating pad and that it takes 14 - 22 days. Have tried that...but still nothing....so far.
Any helpful info from all of you guys (pros) would be appreciated.

Welcome here!!
muas's are slow germinators, maybe they start to germinate over 3 months.. you never know.
its best if it is at night 17 degrees and at day 27 degrees for the seeds;) (celcius)

Welcome aboard!

Give it more time, they usually take longer than that! Banana seeds are some of the hardest seeds to germinate and can take a while!

Dan,
I planted a banana seed on January 30th 2008.
It came up April 2008. I did the heat mat and alot of other stuff with other banana seeds. None of them germed so far.

This one banana I germinated, I did nothing special.
Only thing i did special was to plant it and leave it alone on my plant rack!

Hi Dan,

My father's family settled in Redlands in the 1800's and my uncle's family settled in Mentone -- establishing the Mentone Growers Association and also operating citrus ranches along the north side of Crafton Avenue. I still drive into the area about once a month to visit friends and relatives, and most summers I take time out to hike up to the top of San Gorgonio.
