Hello from California!
Hello everyone!
I've just ventured into the world of bananas! I got a "truly tiny" last week and my musa aeae just arrived today from Thailand - no leaves, no roots. Wish me luck! I've no idea how deep to plant the corm but it's in pure perlite on a heat mat under grow lights. After three weeks in the mail, I'm not taking any chances with potting soil at the moment. I appreciate all of your posts and look forward to learning more from you all! Cheers |
Re: Hello from California!
Welcome to the Bunch. .... The top of the corm should be at soil level or just bearly covered. The soil mix needed to be fast draining, about 50% - 50% commercial potting mix & perlite. The pot MUST drain excess water out.
I have pot corms in pots with 50/50 soil-perlite in the bottom half and the corm in course sand in the top while new roots grow. |
