G'day & I have a question please...
Hello from downunder!
Well I wonder if some of you Nana experts, especially the Aussie ones, can help me out please? I'm looking for a source of ornamental bananas in Australia, of species like M. sikkimensis, M. basjoo, Ensete 'Maurelii', M. AeAe etc... I am positive they are out there but where and I'd appreciate if you could give me some pointers please or whether Australian members can supply? No worries, cheers Lee |

Welcome GanEden. You found the right place for banana questions. I'm sure some of our other members in Australia will pipe up with suggestions.

Thanks guys! I'm sure they will.
Can I ask, how do I change the view of these threads as the newest reply is at the top, something I'm not used to? lol |
Re: G'day & I have a question please...
Welcome Lee. To change the thread display go to the "User CP" The under "Edit Options" there is a box "Thread Display Mode" that has the option of newest or oldest.

Re: G'day & I have a question please...
Lee, many members don't take the time (or figure out how) to post their location on the map, but we do have several members from Australia who have posted their location as being in Australia. Take a look at this map and make note of some of the user IDs and maybe send them an e-mail or private message. Bananas.org - Member Map - Map of our member's locations!
Good luck, Harvey |

Welcome GanEden!
I moved your Thread to the Introductions Forum because most members are eager to read posts by new members to welcome them, and of course be acquainted. I think that you will get more responses this way. Good Luck with your quest for bananas. I will send you some links for great sources of bananas in "OZ" (I love it when you write it like that!). G'day back!!! Welcome to the org, I'm sure some of the Aussie members will get to you. I just got a book from Rex Gilroy and have been reading up on some of the mysterious creature sightings in Australia over the years, very interesting country you have. Good luck with your planting.

Re: G'day & I have a question please...
Lee,
Here are a couple of sources: For Ensete Ventrecosum: WIRREANDA NURSERY 7 Wirreanda Road North, Ingleside. NSW 2101 phone 02 94501400 Fax 94502664 For edible types: http://www.backyardbananas.com.au/order.html Perrys Fruit and Nut Nursery - Fruit Tree List I can't find any of the other sources that I've saved in the last couple of years, but if you can contact the above people, they may be able to refer you to other nurseries who might have ornamental banana varieties. The following is a well known sub-tropical fruit nursery in Australia, and I always thought that they have had banana plants before. Try emailing them for info, also. You're very welcome, Lee. Please keep us posted on your progress. If you find other sources, let us know also, so that we can spread the word around. You'll be surprised that after you contact some sources, they may lead you on to others, as well.
Best wishes, Chong |
