bananas ripening still in trunk
I am new to this site so hello! My dwarf cavendish is growing in my greenhouse and this is the third bunch of bananas that I have had. The same thing always happens however which is the bananas never completely grow out of the trunk and hang down. The flower dries up but the bananas keep growing and s l o w l y grow and develop coming out of the trunk. All the pictures I see of bananas show the bananas hanging down with the flower. It gets very hot in my greenhouse so I'm wondering if the heat is stunting the growth. Am I not fertilizing enough? The leaves are huge and are up to 2' wide. When a banana ripens I pick it and eat it -yum- but what's wrong? Last harvest some of the bananas were starting to get black on the tops so I panicked and cut the trunk down and ripped the bark away to show all the hands of the bananas still developing. It was really very cool looking and most did eventually ripen though many were obviously underdeveloped. I'd love your insight!:waving:
