Banana Newbies

Hello! We are Paul and Roxanne Mitchell and we were very happy to find this forum, as we are definitely newbies as far as growing bananas is concerned. We have two bananas, Mysore and Goldfinger. So far they are looking good. We may have to move them in a few months, though, as we have just found out that our property line is 6 ft farther out than the developer placed our back fence. If our fence gets moved, then the bananas will have to be moved too. This could be interesting and we may be asking for advice. We also enjoy growing orchids and our collection stands at about 80 right now. We have a salt water acquarium with several tropical fish and a variety of corals. We have 3 birds (1 lovebird and two cockatiels), 1 dog and 1 cat. No children still at home, but we do have four grown children and eight grandchildren. We stay very, very busy. Paul loves his yard and has four citrus trees, some frangipani (plumeria), a bird of paradise, a spindle palm, a Bismarck palm and two foxtail palms. Roxanne likes sewing and machine embroidery and is currently trying to get a Network Marketing business off the ground. This may or may not work, but either way, it's a lot of fun.

Welcome, instead of moving them, why not just plant some taller bananas behind them. Kinda stagger them and then just think of how beautiful a backdrop it will be for your other tropicals. Imagine the plumerias against a lush, green background - ooooh - gives me chills!

welcome neighbors, i love some reef tanks, that used to be my #1 hobby, not cheap unless you have only 1 tank, before my boys came into my life i had 18 salt tanks, over 2200 gals of salt in my house at one time, the good old days, we will have to trad nanas or plumies one day, anyhow welcome, talk to you soon!!!!
