Drummer Aloha from the Big Island (Hawai'i), Hawaii

Aloha, my wife Terri and I have an 8 acre former sugar cane field that we are planting with all sorts of plants - bamboo for windbreak, Monkeypods for nice shade trees, hundreds of ornamental plants (we have a small nursery business), and a hundred or so banana plants - all Dwarf Brazilian. We live in a tent (it's only temporary) and have been planting rather than building a house and shop. We are planting about 60 'ulu (breadfruit) trees, and probably a hundred other fruit trees. We may be planting some iholena bananas as part of a research project, and looking to acquire and plant some other varieties of bananas.

I also build and tune steel drums, the musical instruments born in Trinidad. I am working on a new instrument based on the steel drum.

I also have designed some products to allow scuba divers to talk underwater.

Looking forward to learning about and eating more varieties of bananas!

Welcome to Bananas. org . You will find much knowledge here and people willing to help. The Big Island is a great place to call home and a dream for farming. There are some other people in Hawaii that are big into bananas. If you click on "Find Me on the map" under your member name you will see that there are other members on the island, some probably older names and maybe not as active but also many still into bananas. Do not hesitate to ask questions here. Mahalo.
