There he is! I hooked up Mitchell with a few plants this weekend. He'll be addicted soon enough! These Banana plants are kinda like potato chips... :2691:

Re: 1 Socalrocker Growing Bananas
Welcome Mitch!
Hope you have fun with your newfound hobby! I like to say... Soon you'll go from watching a new leaf open up per day on your plants, to finding a new pup per day among all the plants... eventually to getting a new bloom per day (I'm still trying to get to that point!) Especially with Mitchel as your neighbor! You guys can root each other on! Try to get kinds each doesn't have so you can trade and such. Do you have clay or what's the deal with growing there in Ventura Co.? Regards |
Re: 1 Socalrocker Growing Bananas
Well Mediahound I just moved into a home in Ventura Co. ,and yes there is clay in my soil also alot of rocks. My backyard meets a park just on the other side of the wall past my yard.I am trying to get a good medium mix to use in my garden bed for my Banana plants.I had used some mulch and some vegetable planter mix soil along with the dirt from the yard.If you have any other tips for me please pass it on.:0488:
Thanks so much, Mitch |

Here's one idea, arguably the single best thing you can be doing.
Invest in some UCT-9 compost bins and start utilizing all kitchen scraps and yard waste to go back into your ground... http://urbangardencenter.com/product...ct9/index.html :) |
