I think fish emulsion provides minors in the same way blood meal does. The native americans (indians) used to put fish carcasses in the soil to improve the soil. Another very good fertilizer is seaweed. With a stronger nutrient base in the soil it also encourages healthy soil bacteria levels which also encourage stronger plants.
