It looks like spider mites to me too. Look for some small spider-like creatures or small webs and if they are there, you should start treating it as soon as possible. These kinds of miniature wounds can also be caused by very invasive ants (or in my case they did something similar).

One way or another, it's definitely some buggy or spidey critters.
