Cultivation

  • Mature Height - 4' in pots or 6' in the ground.

6 feet

  • Survival Zone - This species has overwintered in zone 9 with no protection in the ground and in pots for me. Seems to favor 50% shaded settings and is quick to send up 5 or 6 pups.

9-11

  • Fruiting Zone - Not edible but seeded which is how I started my plants.
  • Cold Hardiness - I would bet that this banana could handle zone 7 and 8 with protection easily. It is even a bit more frost tolerant than many larger species commonly grown.
  • Wind - Does not shread, mostly due to size and slender leaves.
  • Sun - 50% shade prefered.
  • Taste Description - N/A
  • Personal Notes - A beautiful pink flower that is easy to achieve even in short seasons in a pot. There is a good chance of having pups of the parent plant flower in the same year the parent plant does!
  • Growth tips - Easy to grow. Get some seeds and let em go.
