Description

These small banana plants are typically used in the landscape for their ornamental appeal as M.velutina fruits are pink and fuzzy. However, more than an ornamental, the fruits are actually edible if you don't mind working around the seeds. They will peel themselves back when ripe as you can see in the above photo. If you catch them at the right time (you have only maybe a day or so to catch it when ripe, opened, and unspoiled), you'll notice the best flavor.
