Description

'Sikkimensis' is the same cultivar as 'hookerii'. This is a fast growing, good suckering plant with a thin trunk originated in North India, elevation 6000-7000 feet. More attractive than 'basjoo', it is maroon with a slightly copper underside. 'Sikkimensis is prone to rot when frozen back. Make sure that the corm is kept dry during the winter, use the same care as Basjoo, put mulch over it and then plastic to divert the rain away.
