Description

Related to Popoulu but differing considerably with plump, tapering fruit and salmon pink flesh, edible raw or cooked. The under side of the leaf, midrib, and petiole, and the longer trunks are green with pinkish tints. Compact bunches with individual fruit almost at right angles to the rachis. Fruits are shorter (5") and fatter (2-2.5") with trunks about 10" in diameter. Pinkish tints to underside of leaves and petioles. Apple like flavor, the fully ripe fruit is said to be delicious.
