Description

Gigantic yellow bananas are produced in the fall on trees that may grow 15ft tall. The leaves are 1 foot wide and 6 ft long. It is planted near patios and swimming pools for its tropical look. Generally 4 or 5 offsets may be formed in a single season. This banana originated in Africa, where it can be found growing on mountains near snow capped peaks. Northern Texas growers reported that it survived the winter of 1990's record low cold weather. The huge bananas are usually ripened in the fall and taste sweeter than any supermarket banana. Every banana grower from the south should have this variety in his yard.
