Description

'Dwarf Puerto Rican' is a dwarf mutant plantain. The heads of fruit are a little larger than the original Plantain bearing seven to nine hands of fruit. The shorter trunks of the dwarf plantains are thicker than the tall ones and because of this the 'Dwarf Puerto Rican' is more resistant to the wind and rarely falls over from the weight of its own fruit. It is widely grown in Puerto Rico for its taste and cooking qualities. The majority of plantains grow tall. 'Dwarf Puerto Rican' is an exception. It is resistant to Panama Disease.
