Musa 'African Red' is a hybrid of unknown origin, definitely not a wild species.

Description
Upright inflorescence with brilliantly-colored, deep pinkish-red flower., loads of red in the pseudostem, mid-rib and pedicles. Not an edible cultivar. Tends to like wet, mucky soil and filtered sun.
