Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

I surely wish it was. But that Raja Puri has about 5' of p-stem. In person it probably looks really small for a banana bloom.

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

Thanks. :) I don't think weather will be an issue, as frosts are extremely rare here. The winter will definitely delay the ripening though, and might affect the texture of the fruit. The weather...

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

By bananas being described to bloom "whenever they feel like it," it basically means that a mature pseudostem will throw a bud if conditions are right. What really determines flowering time is how...

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

It's probably the worst time of year for a banana to bloom, growing conditions now are marginal at best, and it will only get colder over the next few weeks to month. Not much will happen over the...

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

My first bloom ever! I'm so stoked! It's on my unknown plant that might be Dwarf Brazilian. The bud is massive, 21 inches so far, and it hasn't even fully emerged yet. I planted it around 16...
