Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

Mine came from the 4-seasons store at the Pearl Harbor NEX. I think I'll have one or two, but cheson74 asked first, after that I'll see what's there.

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

Mine had about 10 before I started cutting them out and giving them away. I hope yours has a bigger bunch than mine did.

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

No, I got it at a plant shop (and a BBTV spreader) called 'Koolau Farmers'. They sell a variety that they get from various vendors. I've seen Hua Moa, Mysore, Dwarf Namwah, Orinoco, Dwarf Orinoco,...

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

Update on my Dwarf Red. The bud elongated enough to begin to hang down, and when I
went to check out the 'fingers' I noticed that they were all pale green. Uhh, shouldn't a
Dwarf Red have some...

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

Iunepeace - good looking plant. Hope the bunch is large and filled with fingers and hands.

Trebor - please keep us updated with photos. I want to compare the bunch/finger size against a Double...

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

I'm not familiar with that type, but others here are. I've heard from 3 to 5 months depending on the type, the weather, the number of leaves, etc. Someone should chime in presently to fill you in...

:0517: Congrats, take a marker and put the date on it so you will know about how long to harvest.

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

Well, Dwarf Cavendish, Dwarf Namwah, and the GM 'Cocos' are supposed to be pretty quick. I'm not sure if the smaller size has something to do with it or not. Maybe the taller ones take longer to...

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

Well, you'd really need to ask Gabe; this is my first experience with this type. I'll put my info into the 'Wiki' and as others add theirs, hopefully we can get more accurate data.

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

Update on my Ae Ae - I'm beginning to see stripes, now. So far I see 9 hands, and I think
the first one had about 11 fingers, and I haven't looked that close at the other ones. Hell,
I'm just...

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

I will probably divvy it up among my wife's relatives, and then there are about 5 others wanting to try it. It's odd that I should have this one; my wife is a direct descendent of the chief from the...

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

I wasn't sure who Nobby was until I remembered I added that pseudonym Nobby D. Holme (say it 3 or 4 times fast and you'll get the joke). :ha:

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

:woohoonaner:
At last!! My Ae Ae is pushing a bud. The p-stem is about 10 1/2 ft, and it has 10 pups. It only had 9 after I traded one to Gabe, but is has pushed out another one to take its...

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

I was never really impressed with banana blooms, but my neighbor has two Double Mahoi's in bloom. I thought they were so nice I took some photos and had to share. In the first photo, the bloom...

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

I was walking past my neighbor's garden plot, and I noticed that his two Double-Mahoi 'nanners
are both blooming. They were both planted on the same day, and must be totally 'in sync' with
each...

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

My neighbor is growing this and is not sure what this is. The p-stem is about 11 ft high,
and I don't think it is Dwarf Brazilian since I have two that just flowered and this appears
to have...

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

My first banana to bloom. It is a dwarf Brazilian, and p-stem is about 7ft. It should be just
the right height to harvest with no problems.

This is about 10 days after I first noticed the pointed...

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)
