Depending on the who made the pot, they usually go up in size by diameter. Or you measure the width across the top. If it is 6 inch,go to a 8 inch, or a 10 inch. My point is, don't go from a 10 inch...

I would just go a size or 2 bigger now and then plant in the ground next year. Its a musa basjoo and will survive outisde in your area.

Pop it out of the pot. Does it look like the roots need more room? You don't need to go up too fast. Just go up a size or two at a time. Especially this time of year.
