No way it's a basjoo, the younger plants usually have a red stripe in the mid rib of the leaf that fades with age ... or not....and the leaf shape isn't quite right either. Ditto the waxy p-stem....

I'm not sure what it is either but I can tell you it is NOT a basjoo. Basjoos don't have wax on the stem. Plus the leaves on your plant seem stiffer, almost like a Saba.

Dalmationsoap may be right....this doesn't match my basjoo's description. It has the overall appearance of one, but my basjoo (3years old) has no red coloration at all, being an overall soft green...
