Re: Musa Basjoo in Canada
That would certainly be the reason why basjoos would be more common.
I've used Mike before, particularly for trachycarpus fortunei. I wonder if he'd have musa velutina or veinte cohol?

Re: Musa Basjoo in Canada
I've visited every nursery, garden centre, and greenhouse in Ottawa and I've only ever seen Musa Basjoo at 2 locations: Rona at Hunt Club/Merivale 4 years ago, and Artistic Landscape Design on...

Re: Southern Ontario members?
I'm the Ottawa guy with the ice cream banana. I moved last year, so I have been in transition, but I've got a much bigger space for my addiction hobby now. My current plant situation is a basjoo that...

Re: Ensete Ventricosum overwintering.....
You can cut them off or leave them on, either way. The roots won't survive through the winter anyway as they will just dry up, so you can do whatever is easiest for you.

Re: My Canadian Bananas and Tropicals
Hopefully those basjoos bounce back. They're pretty remarkable things so nothing would surprise me. Just to give you an idea of what might have been going on in there, I had a first year plant with a...

Re: Looking for Veinte Cohol
That's the plan, Dan. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
I've got space to grow them over the winter with the rest of my tender tropicals. Thanks for your interest.

Looking for Veinte Cohol
I'm wondering if anyone is interested in sending a veinte cohol my way. Btw, I live in Canada. Of course I would be willing to pay. Thanks! :2722:

Re: My Canadian Bananas and Tropicals
Thanks for posting all your plants, Brady. It's nice to see other Ontarians here who are just as crazy as I am. I'm in Ottawa.
I've been growing musa basjoo, musa zebrina, pineapples, citrus,...

I've been lurking here for years, and only just got around to joining and introducing myself.
