They aren't a cross it is a variant of Velutina called Markuanna. This trait is indicative of that variant. The fruit will also be smooth skinned.

Yes you can plant it outside. Wait until June though and you may want to dig it up and bring it in during the winter or you can risk it if you live in a city.

You won't find anything other than Cavendish in the UK. I heard there was a banana producer in Cornwall, what they grow I have no idea and they would only be sold locally.

Incorrect. Bananas we grow for fruit are seedless hybrids.



True. But bananas that produce seeded fruit are propagated as ornamental plants and not for eating.

The two big ones on the left are the yunnanensis, the smaller ones are cannas. But the banana seedlings are still small.

I buy them From Mark Davies in the UK. I always get good germination from this seller, and decent prices for more seeds. Takes about 3 weeks to get them to the US from there, but worth it.
