Musa Thai black stores dormant bareroot very well
I tried to upload pics but it seems I have reached my limit and I hate deleting photos and making blank spots on all my posts. I stored Thai Black this year bare root just like Orinoco and it stored...

Re: Florida Orinoco history ???
I like em cause they are tough as heck, can take burning full sun in 100+ temps, cold, solid clay, and will survive in suspended animation under my house in winter for 6 months. I would say they are...

Re: When will my banana seeds produce leaves
I buy them From Mark Davies in the UK. I always get good germination from this seller, and decent prices for more seeds. Takes about 3 weeks to get them to the US from there, but worth it.

Re: When will my banana seeds produce leaves
Exactly the same as you do, but I give them temperature fluctuations of 80F degrees for 5 hours a day, and about 60F the rest of the time. I have good luck using this method, along with the sphagnum...

Re: When will my banana seeds produce leaves
The sphagnum method works best for me, I recently had 20 or so Musa Itinerans India form, and about 4 out of 10 Musa Thai black seeds germinate. I never had luck in soil. Since I had such good luck...

Re: Bananas up north?
I'm thinking because Sikkimensis is a high altitude banana, it does not like hot temps and grows better in mild summers. I have 3 different ones from seed, and all of them stall in summer unless they...

Re: Bananas up north?
Velutina will bloom each year and will grow indoors if you can keep the spider mites off of it. Sikkimensis does not seem to do well here, I suspect it does not like our hot summers.

Re: Anyone care to guess on this house plant?
Banana, maybe Ornata, or something similar. Not a Heliconia. The white powder might be water that has run out of the leaves and deposited some sugar? I would not lick it until I was sure it was not...

Re: Giant Nepal Banana Seeds
Its not a true banana, its an Ensete, a close relative. It does not form pups, instead making only one trunk and after several years it will flower, set seed and die. The types of Ensete I have tried...

Re: Finally 1 musa Musa Griersonii!
1 out of the 3 that germinated so far, the first one died before it got out of the seed. I think this one is going to make it.
