Stewart will be fine. The plant will most likely stop growing for several days, possibly a week because of transplant shock. The half leaf only has a chance of helping the plant get over the shock....

wait till fruit is done, then cut off the mother pstem and slice that pot right in 1/2 leaving 1/2 of the mother corm with each pup and replant. i'd imagine that 1/2 of the mother corm would provide...

In case there is a bloom trying to push out as Jose stated ... try cutting the pstem vertically at the rupture to relieve the pressure and to find the bloom. Make the cut starting at center stem...

Sounds like too much water, they slow down this time of year and use less water. Make sure the pot drains well and let it dry out between watering.

the "mj5" patch namwah has the very noticeable bands also.. these have them but not as pronounced and lighting was overcast in these pics so contrast of colors is less
