Re: Asimina Triloba (Paw Paw)

The only pawpaw that I’ve heard of being self-fertile is Sunflower but I would say buy at least 2-6 because it will help increase fruit and if one dies unexpectedly you’ll have a backup. I lost a...

Re: Asimina Triloba (Paw Paw)

I haven’t posted in here in awhile. I actually got 8 pawpaw fruits last year from my seedling tree. Cluster of 8 from 1 flower. (Very happy). The fruits were around 5-6 percent seed, firm texture...

Re: Asimina triloba "paw paw"

It is definitely worth trying and you will have success. I am in zone 7a long island and the trees are doing very well here. From seed it takes 7-8+ years for the first fruit. Grafted trees are...

Re: Zone Pushing - Mango

I've never attempted growing mango since I am in zone 7a - that's why I've opted for growing Pawpaws (Asimina triloba) since they are cold hardy, disease and pest resistant and can produce heavily...

Re: Asimina Triloba (Paw Paw)

Oh okay so it's around the same as my trees. Once I looked into it more I saw that Kentucky State University & Neal Peterson recommends 8 feet between trees. I think Michael Judd said that ideally 10...

Re: Musa Basjoo prep for winter

What did you end up doing? It can get below 30 degrees and you will see die back but the stalks are pretty resilient. I would say November is a good time to chop them back and cover with mulch,...

Re: When to winterize Basjoo bananas

This sounds like a good plan. I have been growing musa basjoo since 2016 and I think we're in similar zones. I'm long island ny zone 7a which sounds about the same for you or even a little colder if...

Re: Asimina Triloba (Paw Paw)

What is the spacing between these two trees? Just curious :) - I spaced my trees 6-7 feet from one another so they would become a hedge and pollinate each other well hopefully.
