Re: dwarf namwah grow report in COLD Northern California

I'm also surprised by my bad luck, especially after reading about meizzwang's groove that survives long spells of cold wet weather. It's warmer down here (Los Angeles area) during the daytime...

Re: dwarf namwah grow report in COLD Northern California

I know it's a year later, but I'm curious to know how the "not namwah" fared after a winter of cold and rain. I'm in S. Calif, a 9b zone where it gets down to 24-28F a few times each winter. I've...

Re: Anyone have a dwarf papuya tree?

I'm not sure why home grown papaya seeds would be any different than farm grown, or university grown...as far as growing true.

The U of Hawaii seeds are the best deal in town. Instead of $5-7 for 5...

Potassium sulfate any good to use?

I'm thinking of buying some potassium sulfate online and adding it to soil and container mixes where I plant bananas. Is this a good way to add potash, and if it is how do I figure out how much to...

Re: Rooting Loquat cuttings?

Brian, it's a good idea to wrap them in parafilm. That could make misting unnecessary. Do you remember how many days you left them in the cup of water?

Re: Potted fruit trees.

That's a nice healthy looking cherry tree!

Tony, where do you get the 30 gal plastic pots (are they black?). Are there vendors/wholesalers in your area, or do you order them online. I'm in the Los...

Re: Rooting Loquat cuttings?

I have the same situation as Darkman, some nice 12" long pieces left over from grafting attempts this week. I'm soaking them in water right now, after removing most of the leaves. I think I'll add...

I have 1 cu yd of composted horse manure(60%), what to do??

I just took an hour drive to a soils company(Newhall, Calif.) to buy some compost, but to save time I went to their commercial yard and when I asked for the regular compost they pointed me to a...

Re: Building a raised box for a banana plant...

I've finished the box, and looking at it from a banana's perspective it doesn't look that big, especially if the bananas to survive and grow for a few years. It's a good idea to make the box longer...

Re: saoking seeds in a seaweedsolution

I've recently read a paper about using Potassium Nitrate (KN03) to increase germination and seedling vigor for papaya seeds; I wonder how that would work with banana.

I've uploaded it as an...
