Re: Please help me ID this.

Looks like I am in zone 6b. I need to come up with some kind of portable greenhouse that's heated. I hate to cut them down and really have no place inside to keep them as they are.

Looking Orinoco to me, I don't think too many are winter hardy in your zone.

Re: ID Help: Bananas in Salto, Uruguay

A bit hard to tell from the photos, the angles and lighting are a bit challenging, but looks to me like a type of Silk. Some common names for plants in this group include ‘Apple’, ‘Manzano’ and ‘Silk...

Re: Can I get some advice about this Cavendish, which has just flowered?

Your banana is most definitely NOT a Cavendishii of any type. I personally would NEVER remove pups while fruit is developing or ripening. Rather late in the season to fertilize, seeing as your...

Re: Can I get some advice about this Cavendish, which has just flowered?

it doesn't look to me to be a Cavendish. the small pups should have some red spots on their leaves. Also you can't grow outside zone 8a, under 50F it will start to die. At 25 would be frozen, getting...

Re: Looking for partners

If you are serious about legally importing fruit to the U.S. from Vietnam then the partner you need is an import broker for the Port Of Los Angeles.

You can locate them through the port...

Re: Cool winter storage of banana plants?

This could help some.

I keep some of my container plants at 60-65 in the basement for about 7-+ months. If the temperature were 50-60 my method would be the same I would not change a thing, the...

Re: Cool winter storage of banana plants?

If you have room leave them in the pots. Don't water much if any, they will be dormant and not need any water. If the pups are on the mother I would leave them there .

Cool winter storage of banana plants?

I have 4 types of banana: pink velutina, Truly Tiny, Double Mahoi, and FL Lady Finger. All of these are nicely leafed out, but some will have to survive my zone 6b winter indoors under LED lights, or...

Either you have not done your homework or you are looking for a fool. The shipping, import, and food inspection costs for banana fruit from Vietnam into the U.S. are costly. There is already a...
