Farmers in Hawaii trim the corms completely to remove all roots when planting a new field. The corms are as bare and white as a baby's behind. The plants do fine.

Completely normal, and you have yourself a nice, big, healthy-appearing corm! This is a standard practice for shipping bananas. I keep roots on some smaller plants, just because some people freak out...

Personally i would bring it in the house, rot is a big problem as well as cold here in the uk. If your not sure about watering I would get a moisture meter from B&Q or the like, they are about £5...

Jazz, as long as you kept it above freezing and avoided saturated roots, it would probably be okay. In some old post Mark Hall shows how he successfully over-wintered bananas in a tunnel.

It's not a Musa but my Ensete superbum in the yard looks blueish when compared to the other Bananas.

M. itenerans may be a good choice as well.
Musella lasiocarpa really looks blue when grown beside greener musa.

My Burmese Blue has developed bluish /purple petioles. I'll try and post a pic in the next few days. I won't be around till Sunday.
