1. under-watered
2. over-heated pot
3. getting a lot of reflected heat on the leaves
The place to check the dampness of the soil is through the holes at the bottom of the pot....

4" deep in a basin out to the drip line of the tree canopy once per week in the summer is also the rule of thumb I learned from my father in Redlands. :)

Re: Large banana plants no roots - any advise?
If you have only half the corm and it is bigger than a walnut, you still
have a viable plant, but it changes the way I would treat it.
In this case I would indeed chop off all the leaves, but the...

Re: Large banana plants no roots - any advise?

We normally cut the plant down to about 18" or 1/2 meter in height.
I have had corms...

Re: Potting my first banana plant
You can grow it in a pot if you wish but it will do better in the ground. You can use peat moss and perlite for your soil mix.Make sure you have drainage holes in the pot.
