There are several other possibilities you might want to check into.
Namwah comes to my mind. I grow both Namwah and Blue Java, like...

Re: Are Root boring weevils ?n issue in United States/

I have not seen any weevils in my banana mats, but that does not mean that there might not be any in the US.
Your banana plants will do a lot better planted in the ground. Use plenty of organic...

Re: Fruit Fuel

Some possibilities:
1. under-watered
2. over-heated pot
3. getting a lot of reflected heat on the leaves

The place to check the dampness of the soil is through the holes at the bottom of the pot....

Re: Fruit Fuel

No, there is never any standing water. This applies approximately 4" of water over roughly the same diameter as my trees which moistens soil to a depth of 12-15". I have moisture sensors at depths...

Re: Large banana plants no roots - any advise?

If you have only half the corm and it is bigger than a walnut, you still
have a viable plant, but it changes the way I would treat it.

In this case I would indeed chop off all the leaves, but the...

Re: Large banana plants no roots - any advise?

We move a lot of banana and platano plants around here in trying to tidy up an overgrown area of our property.

We normally cut the plant down to about 18" or 1/2 meter in height.
I have had corms...

Re: Potting my first banana plant

You can grow it in a pot if you wish but it will do better in the ground. You can use peat moss and perlite for your soil mix.Make sure you have drainage holes in the pot.
