Malanga and eddoes are not varieties. Malanga isn't even taro. Taro is Colocasia and is Asian and Malanga is Xanthosoma and is south American. Some taro varieties are dry soil and others need wet....

Better identification can be had with a photo of the mature parent plant though.

A photo of the parent plant would better ........ the small plant could pass as any red stemmed...

You are watering tooo much! Do let the pot soil dry out! The corm and pstem stores water. The roots need air so the soil needs to be on the dry side.

Not that I'm aware of, but removing pups also damages some of the mothers root system so I'd leave them be.

They will not flower again if you cut them down. one and done flowering. best you can do is protect it with blankets from future frosts and hope the flowers don't freeze
