Oh, Eric! That is not encouraging! I'll use lots of perlite and hope to winter it under lights. Hope it works. It is an expensive banana so this may be a one shot deal for me.

I have always treated spider mites with a little castile soap in water. Spray every 3 days to disrupt the cycle. I have never heard of mites being in the soil and I wouldn't repot. Just use the soap...
