Re: Patupi

Re: New to group

Get a plant light with a timer. Keep them warm with UV light and they will never know they were in IN.

Re: Patupi

Thanks Mike. I had great results out of Patupi and Tigua this year. 3 Patupi bunches and one Tigua. I love Patupi. I believe it’s my new favorite banana. Very good tasting, firm banana.

Patupi and...

The plant is a beautiful plant and prolific pupper and seems to like a container.
So far it overwinters well in the basement under cfl's along with a few others.
The plant seems to be a...

Re: Patupi

Hi Susan

Thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear that your plant isn't very active. In my experience, once the main plant stops growing it doesn't restart. But the leaves tend to keep the corm...

Re: I guess I am now a banana surgeon... Any ideas what it is?

I am quite certain it is not weevils. Still have not caught a single adult. Most likely nematodes, being here in Florida and all... Anyway, I wanted to share what seems to me to be a characteristic...

Re: Dwarf Iholena For Sale

They should be Maia Haia (Iholena iholena) a very rare form of dwarf white iholena. These range 6-8’ a little taller than the Ha’A which may sadly be extinct.

These are AAB types. If you want a...

Re: I guess I am now a banana surgeon... Any ideas what it is?

Wow Steve I’m sorry man! Have you seen any bugs or grubs? I was thinking it could be nematode roundworms. Like Radopholus similis! I don’t have experience with either so listen to Gabe! To me the...

Re: New Cali Gold has wet, black area

I can verify she has the real Cali Gold!

Honestly the only difference I can find is the height of the Cali Gold is 1-2' shorter ALWAYS! than the TC dwarf Orinoco. Both are excellent producers! And...

Re: New Cali Gold has wet, black area

Keep in mind that it is probably plain Orinoco and not the Cali Gold cultivar.

Just tossing this out ....

Basjoos/ and many banana plants will get very large and grow very fast in the correct manmade conditions as all of you know.

Re: Large basjoo for zone 6?

I just saw a Facebook post from a guy in Pittsburgh who has tons of huge basjoo clumps. He cuts them down after the first frost, covers them with mulch and then covers with tarps.
