Anyone got an idea what this could be? It ended rotting before it finished it so I don't know what the fruit was like....

ID for this banana
Anyone know what variety banana this is? Its about 9 foot tall but I believe a plant that was happy could easy be 12+ feet tall. And the fruit would be larger.

I was expecting 3 years because thats what the catalog said, so I was pleased when it started fruiting. And yes I still have filling time, around 4 -6 months especially if it went through winter

I grow about half of mine in pots, they don't produce fruit quite as soon, but so far I got quite a few dwarf Cavendish, super dwarf Cavendish, Iholena, gold finger to fruit in pots, they take around...

Yup it's that time of the year :( Should have taken pictures of my plants yesterday! Dug up more than 30, three with fruit and one with a flag! It was crazy trying to do it in one day in 30-45℉...

It's good that you got all of yours in even if it didn't freeze!
I had one day (and one evening) to get all my plants indoors before we had 29˚ this morning! I don't think they would have looked...

Yes it's bad that it bloomed so late but it's good that it finally bloomed! Maybe next year I can line it up that they could bloom in August than I wouldn't have to do all the work of digging them up...

Thanks! Sounds like it'll definitely have to be moved, I think I'll clean out my greenhouse (from dwarf Cavendish) and plant these is the ground in there, I like how short they fruit!

I'm still learning and I'm not even sure what I'll do this year but last year I bare rooted than kinda dug it in the soil, they were too big to put in pots. I'll probably do something like that again...

You definitely don't want to cut it if you want to fruit to fill out, looks like I'll have to be digging up 5 or so plants 10+ feet tall! If they all have fruit on I'll dig them up and lay them...
