Re: Two new leaves from the core competing ... why? (With photos)

Re: Thinning Mat

I'm thinking that if I pour kerosene on the corm then the remaining banana bunch would probably not be considered organic. Is that true?

Re: Pruning and Forming Thicker Pseudostem

I only prune banana leaves after they lose rigidity and fold down to the pstem and turn brown. I like to see a green pstem so remove old layers as they turn brown and dry out. I try to maintain...

Be careful that the free rats don't steal your bunch. I would hang inside........ And if you you had harvested the bunch in the fall, I think the story would have been different....... The connection...

Re: Donetta

First couple leaves after winter dormancy are always weak for me. As the weather warms the leaves improve.

Re: Raja Puri Necrosis Repetition

What BBJ said. More potassium and leave more room after the last banana before cutting off. Maybe a 1' or run the flower out if you have four plus months of good weather ahead.

I have had the same...

Re: Black spot groupings

Try some copper sulfate spray. The spots wont go away tho. .... Also, check to see if the spots are above the leaf; ... they could be an insect egg sack.

The real problem here is to figure...

Re: Potting soil advice (newbie)

DON'T! .... Bananas like fresh water. The corm and pstem store a large amount of water for dryer times so there is no reason to use moisture control crystals in the pot. Thus the...

For me this happens to the oldest leaves on the plant before they turn yellow and I cut them off.

Re: Two new leaves from the core competing ... why? (With photos)

:03: to me it looks like one of the leaves never enrolled. You can probably just leave it or you could do surgery and cut the top inch off the p-stem. I see a new leaf coming out of one of the...
