Ladyfinger bananas in Oz are what this site calls Brazillian. Sugars here are what we call here in oz Ducasse. On this site they are called Namwah. Go to the wiki...

stem breaking problem

I'm having problems with a few of my bananas. The stem bends from the weight of the bunches.
This happens to my neighbors as well.

I stake mine as well as irrigate and fertilize.

Pisang Ceylan questions

Hi All,

My first bunch of Pisang Ceylan is just about ready. 3 months now from blooming. They have filled out nicely.

I have never tasted these before. Some seem to rate these highly.

There's generally not much else available in the major stores.
A local fruit shop here (Sunnybank Hills, Southern Brisbane) has what they call "Monkey Fingers" and Pacific plantains. One fruit shop...

Having just experienced the heat wave myself I would say it's sunburn. If your soil is well drained it almost impossible to over water. If the soil is water logged and not draining they will suffer....
