How late is too late to divide and repot?

Zone 8a. Dwarf Cavendish in pots that are way too small.

Plan is to bring them inside late October when overnight temps start dipping way below 50f.

Re: Container PH Check

Please keep us updated.

A quick Google search leads me to believe that soil pH meters sold to gardeners aren't particularly accurate. Any chance we can convince you to send a bag of soil to be...

Re: Endless Rain

Thanks everyone!

Here comes Alberto. Stood in the drizzle yesterday unclogging my gutters from pecan flowers. Those things are evil.

Cinci - mine are in the ground, not particularly dark mulch,...

Re: How far from the fence to plant?

I have a couple within a few feet of my house foundation and they grew to almost 20' last summer. A six or eight foot fence isn't going to look very big when the bananas have a season of growth.

They won't have any problem coming up through shredded hardwood mulch.

Picked up this Dwarf Cavendish on a whim last summer

I have Basjoo in my yard for several years now, but on a whim I picked up this Dwarf Cavendish late last summer and not only did it make it through the winter, but it gave me four viable pups that...

Re: basjoo out the wazoo to many pups to save

I want to add some velutina to my yard but I've got no more room to overwinter plants.

Who knew 3/4 acre wouldn't be enough?

Too late to repot?

I have a Dwarf Cavendish (?) that I neglected to put in a large enough container this summer. Currently about 2 feet tall in a 3 gallon pot. Have been watering and feeding all summer, just never...

Too late to dig up pups?

I probably have another 4 to 6 weeks before I might get a freeze. Do I still have time to remove pups?

My musa basjoo did great this year. Plenty of rain and fertilizer.

Went to the Atlanta Botanical Garden this weekend to check out their carnivorous plants collections (Venus flytraps, pitcher plants, drosera, neps).

Saw plenty of banana trees but this one really...

Will these pups grow?

Trimmed away some pups in hopes of getting more growth.

Is it worth it to save the smallest of these pups, even with no roots?

Re: These are the times that make our plants different

Yowza! That's insane. I'm in northeast Georgia and we barely got a dusting (after a couple inches of rain) from Jonas.

Re: Cut my nanners back too soon!

Snarkie, we hit 28f at my house, destroyed the existing leaves, but the 2 weeks of temps in the 60's and 70's (72f yesterday!) have pushed out an entire leaf! I'm taking a picture today.

Re: Cut my nanners back too soon!

I just let mine die back with the first frost, about two weeks ago, and it's pushing up new leaves through!

Re: What am I doing wrong?

I'm looking at your photos now.

Yeah, we've had some warm weather lately. Low 70's yesterday. No freezing temps for the next 10 days.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

Sadly, mine have met their demise.

We had low temps below 30f twice this week.

I said my goodbyes and mulched heavily.
