Re: Red Variegated Basjoo

Cavendish, I concur.

Musa Acuminata Zebrina, most likely.

I sell one gallon pups with a pup in at the local farmers market for $20.

I've found that they get better color if you give them some...

How late is too late to divide and repot?

Zone 8a. Dwarf Cavendish in pots that are way too small.

Plan is to bring them inside late October when overnight temps start dipping way below 50f.

River Rock Mulch?

Gave away a few musa basjoo pups last month, sword suckers over two feet tall with decent corms and healthy root systems, to a guy last month who has complained that they aren't doing well.

First of...

Re: Container PH Check

Please keep us updated.

A quick Google search leads me to believe that soil pH meters sold to gardeners aren't particularly accurate. Any chance we can convince you to send a bag of soil to be...

Re: Container PH Check

Wow. That's really acidic.

Re: Endless Rain

Thanks everyone!

Here comes Alberto. Stood in the drizzle yesterday unclogging my gutters from pecan flowers. Those things are evil.

Re: How far from the fence to plant?

I have a couple within a few feet of my house foundation and they grew to almost 20' last summer. A six or eight foot fence isn't going to look very big when the bananas have a season of growth.

Endless Rain

So we're 10 days in (around 2-3") with 10 more days forecast (additional 4-5").

My musa basjoo look horrible. Leaves come out fine, but curl on the edges and get sun baked between storms.

Should...

I heard "from a guy" this weekend that commercial suppliers of bananas in our area were no longer growing bananas, they have switched over to cannabis.

Anyways, back...

Re: Banana Circle Critique

Welcome to Bananas!

That seems like an awful lot of competition for the bananas. You do realize they are going to be overhead and putting up plenty of pups by the time summer is in full swing,...
