Re: Are my plants diseased?

I don't know anything about growing bananas in warm climates, and only slightly more about growing them in colder climates.

However, I do garden with large quantities of wood chips and very often...

Re: Best bananas to dig each winter in the north

Not sure what others do around here. Don't personally know anyone else growing bananas (a friend planted a basjoo this year but hasn't overwintered it yet) although I do see a few plants here and...

Re: Mushrooms in banana plant pot

I am no banana expert but I certainly don't worry about mushrooms sharing space with my other outdoor potted plants (haven't had this occur indoors), especially if the plant is doing well. And, there...

Re: New Here-Help Appreciated

Spider mites can be a pain. Make sure you are spraying the entire plant, including crevices and such on the p-stem, and the potting medium.

What I usually do if i do get an infestation on a plant...

Re: New Here-Help Appreciated

I am by no means an expert either, but that looks like Ensete ventricosum to me, I could be wrong.

Most of my experience is with houseplants in general, so the following is based on that and not...

Re: Is there someone in zone 9 interested in hybridizing bananas?

That sounds pretty cool, too bad I am across a border and a couple of climate zones too low, 'cause I've got the space and would love to help.

I have no experience in your climate zone but I have spent some time in 8b. One thing I have done with good results during the shoulder...

Re: Bananas in the Pacific Northwest?

Sorry, a little off topic here:D - bambusoides is an awesome plant!!! There was a fantastic grove near Redmond off the 405 at a nursery, the name of which I am not 100% sure about but might be Rock...

Re: Bananas in the Pacific Northwest?

Yeah it was a weird year. I have several mildly hardy C. gigantea bamboo (all divisions came from one plant), 3 of which usually die back to the ground, one that hasn't even hardly blinked at winter...

I am...
