Clare, if the "corm" you are talking about is a piece of the old mother plant corm, attached to the new plants healthy corm (however small) then there is nothing to worry about. Old mother plant corm...

The correct name for this plant would be "M. velutina X M. zebrina". Gabe is right when he said the mother is listed first in all hybrids. That is why I asked. So the correct way to name hybrids is...

That is a very cool plant! Was this a cross with a Musa zebrina as the seed producer and a Musa velutina as the pollen parent? I would guess it is a velutina seed bearer and a zebrina pollen donor?...
