Re: no leaves on pseudo stem with fruit??

Some varieties "think" they are done when the flower emerges, while others have leaves and male flowers for months after the fruit ripens. You have the advantage of warm weather, so let them be and...

Re: Identify a banana variety without having fruit?

The answer to the original question is maybe. If you know what varieties you have but not which is which, it will be easier. Dwarfs and talls should be fairly sortable as the plants grow. Reds...

Re: undeveloped bananas

You can cut the flower off when the stem is 12" below the last full bunch. Don't have to, but you can. Leaving less stem could allow the stem to dessicate up into the actual bunch

Re: Water Per Day

You want it always moist, never soggy. Smaller amount of water more frequently is better than larger amount less frequently. Temps, humidity, soil type, mulch, etc are all things that need to be...

Re: Help, my banana tree has a new defected leaf!

Reflects the condition of the plant 7-14 days ago. Could be many reasons. Not a real concern until next leaf looks worse.

Re: The importance of planting at or above grade?

Growing bananas in a raised bed, or elevated bed works great. Soil over-saturation, especially in winter when bananas are not active and do not need a lot of water, or summer when there are monsoon...

Re: Seasonal Influence on bunch size

Spring flowering is often on a plant that has been"weakened" by Winter weather, and thus less energetic, than a plant that flowers in late Summer or early Fall occurs on a plant that is at its peak...

Re: It's always worth a shot

Re: Blue Java fruit not filling out

Not enough fertilizer, water, rootspace, or anything else. If it flowered in late winter, early spring. Or maybe nothing at ll. Bottom line is "it is what it is" at this point. All you can do is make...
