Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

At least 14 feet trunk alone, and to the tops of leaves probably 25 to 30 feet. Check out my other pic I just put up, the leaf on the left is the largest leaf I have ever seen. It's got to be at...

Re: Thai black sun requirements?

In this pic it's between 12 and 14 feet of trunk, not counting the tops of leaves. I'd say right now it's about 15+ feet.

Re: What are the best tasting banana varieties to you?

That is the largest Orinoco bunch I have seen; great job. I can only get 5 hands, and most of the time its more like 3 or 4. In fairness, I dont fertilize it, not even with compost/worm tea.

Re: What are the best tasting banana varieties to you?

Re: What are the best tasting banana varieties to you?

I heard from a reliable source that these type bananas are soup/stew bananas in the Caribbean. Cooked they are extremely dry and hard, so it makes sense that they would keep their shape in soups, and...

Hopi Pale Grey Squash

This year I planted 2 plants of Hopi Pale Grey, with the hopes of getting a decent harvest. To most, 6 plants per vine is considered a good harvest, with them ranging 8 to 10 pounds average, and some...

Re: Breeding with giants - The Variegated Tani

One way to reduce height is to completely cut down the stalk to 3 feet or so once it's gained some decent height. I have a tall braz. that flowered at around 7 feet that I did that to. Sure it sets...

Re: Opinions on the price of variegated bananas

I think the prices of the variagated bananas are absolutely ridiculous. I wont pay those prices personally. I think its another fad buy and will go the way of the tulip craze/bubble of the 1600s....
