Praying Hands Taste Report
Harvested my first bunch of Praying Hands this week, and it was also my first taste of them. Pretty good out of hand when very ripe, and very good cooking banana....

VC have always grown well for me, but not the fastest.. I have an unknown that smoke's in vertical growth.. It's faster than Namwah.. I'm pretty certain its not a White Iholena. If I'd have to guess...

Same here. I thought I just had a bad plant.
So far the Namwah is the fastest growing for me. TC to flower in 11 months here in zone 8b.

I didn't mentioned it because it's the slowest plant I've grown.
Maybe it will get faster, but it's still under 12 inches and I've had it for 2.5 months.

It's true that Cavendish are among the least cold hardy bananas, but Rose is not more hardy, nor shorter, nor more reliable. Rose really suffers during the cool months, fruits at 6-9' in my yard,...

Lots of varieties put up pups that are initially red, but later look like the parent plant. Based on the mother plant, it's an ABB genome banana, maybe Orinoco or "Namwah".

1000 fingers taste report
TEXTURE-somewhat like a Cavendish, a bit mealy, but not unpleasant.
FIRMNESS-Firm, makes the banana good and chewy.
SWEETNESS-Very sweet, not as sweet as a sucrier.
TARTNESS-Some tartness, enough...

If you noticed 2 weeks ago, in the top photo, you can see the pronounced veins in the leaf. That is a prime example of a plant that has stopped pushing, choked, or stuck.
