My favorite Dwarf for overall satisfaction has been Dwarf Namwah, makes you look like a pro, ha ha.

I am in 9a and have had DC for many years but they never do much in the ground. They struggled even on the best years. Don't waste your time, I just dug them up and making room for other stuff.

I bought one of these "Balbisiana" on a visit to "Going Bananas" and if my memory serves me right, Don said they are one in the same as Thai Black. I am in 9a and mine seems to do ok in the ground...

I still make the mistake sometimes of cutting too short, even after growing bananas for a few years, I still forget and cut too short and they die. I like about 24".

You have a long way to go. Looks like the bloom has been cut way too early and short. I will be surprised if they make it.

It's mostly just composting out here in the Marshall islands, like Darkman say's there's no soil just sand and the rain just sifts straight thru. I don't know how the island stays as green as it...
