Re: rarepalmseeds.com do not often sell fresh seeds of musa species.

I'm also a past customer of Rare Palm Seeds. com, and I have to say with them it's hit and miss. I've had just as bad of luck with Trade Winds Fruit. They have also sent many many dead seeds to my...

Re: Questions about Dwf brazilian

Yes, this is true. Here in Hawaii, you can go to the Farmer's Markets and everyone sells "Apple", and you can also buy "Dwarf Apple" banana trees from nurseries here locally. They are not Manzano....

Re: Nieghbors mystery banana

Definitely not in the class of Dwf Brazilian, as the petioles are too light in color. It's even too light to be a 'Iholene class. As for Raja Puri, the leaf structure is close (Fat and square-ish),...

Re: Nieghbors mystery banana

To me, looks as it could be a Williams type. Good sturdy plant, and has nice oversized foliage. It can get up to 10' or so at the crown. I love this one for it's dense neutral flavor fruit for making...

I wanted to post an update to all of the variables in Florida Hill Nursery.

Re: "hardy to zone"

If anyone understands PRECISELY what the "From/To" chart is about. Please let me know.

One theory is: Global Warming/Updated minimums.
Another is: Total Variance in that sub-zone.

Thanks!

Re: Someting wrong with my fruit tree

Over the last few decades there has been great research on citrus at UC Riverside, and in the last couple years I'd been able to piggy back on some of the student's research findings. There are many...

Re: Mini-super-hyper-dwarf ?

My goal in hybridizing new Super-Duper Micro Mini Dwarf Dwarfs would be that you will need a magnifying glass to actually see the plant, and that the fruit will be like ant eggs.

Re: Candy Cane Banana

Makes sense. It seems that what I read with people's feedback on this through various sites, that some seeds didn't come up for 12-14 months.

Very true and a great point! Even a genetically duplicate seedling wouldn't have identical fruit. This is why grafting exists. As seen with Haas avo's, for example, came from the branch of one local...

Re: Russell Avocado

I would say that if you're not getting a good cross-pollination with an opposite genotype ( an "A" type with a "B" type), then you will end up with a lot of cuke's, which are unpollinated flower...
